Window to the Sky

Loneliness – some people’s life

[Verse 1]

He wakes before the morning light

An empty room, no end in sight

Coffee cold, the silence near

The ticking clock the only ear

He walks the halls, the paint is cracked

Old photos fade, the frames are black

He whispers names he used to know

But time has left and won’t say hello

[Chorus]

But there’s a window to the sky

Where he still dreams that he could fly

Beyond the walls, beyond the pain

Into the arms of love again

He holds that hope inside his chest

That maybe life will send its best

He folds his hands, begins to pray

“God, let me find my peace one day”

[Verse 2]

The mailman comes but never stays

Just like the world, it looks then strays

The phone is still, no voices call

The only sound’s the furnace crawl

He keeps a chair by the fire’s side

Where once she laughed, now ghosts reside

He reads her letters every night

Each word a flicker of her light

[Chorus]

But there’s a window to the sky

Where he still dreams that he could fly

Beyond the walls, beyond the pain

Into the arms of love again

He holds that hope inside his chest

That maybe life will send its best

He folds his hands, begins to pray

“God, let me find my peace one day”

[Bridge]

Maybe tomorrow brings the rain

To wash away this aching strain

Or maybe just a passerby

Will see his soul and say hi

[Final Chorus]

So he keeps looking to the sky

Where every star is a reply

He tells himself, “You’re not yet done”

There’s still a place beneath the sun

He lights a candle, lets it burn

And waits for love to one day return
