Good Timber Grows

(Inspired by Douglas Malloch’s poem “Good Timber”)

The tree that never faced the storm,
Never bent, but never formed.
It stood alone, it stood so small,
No roots grew deep, no strength at all.

The man who never had to fight,
For sun and sky, for wrong and right,
He walked the path, so soft, so wide,
But never felt the fire inside.

Good timber grows through wind and rain,
Through trials deep and through the pain.
The stronger storm, the stronger soul,
Through broken scars, we’re made whole.

Where forests rise, the giants stand,
Weathered strong by time’s own hand.
They bear the marks of battles past,
Yet through the storms, they hold steadfast.

Good timber grows through wind and rain,
Through trials deep and through the pain.
The stronger storm, the stronger soul,
Through broken scars, we’re made whole.

The sky is far, but we must climb,
Through sun and cold, through years of time.
For roots grow deep where struggles rise,
And touch the stars beyond the skies.

Good timber grows through wind and rain,
Through trials deep and through the pain.
The stronger storm, the stronger soul,
Through broken scars, we’re made whole.

This is the law of life we know,
Through storm and sun, good timbers grow.
